This week on The Perfect Parfait, Hunter Cope welcomes musician, producer, and festival-dominating DJ Alison Wonderland to the Parfait Palace for a poolside interview full of EDM lore, questionable business ventures, purple desserts, and one deeply uncomfortable amount of dancing to Sisqó’s “Thong Song.”
The episode starts with Chef David Codney serving up one of the most beautiful parfaits of the season: The Cheshire Trance.
Inspired by Alison’s spellbinding DJ sets and the Cheshire Cat from Wonderland itself, the parfait features vibrant purple Okinawa sweet potato and enough magical energy to make everyone wonder if Chef has finally created something truly perfect.
From there, Hunter and Alison dive into her origin story, her biggest crowds, her biggest and smallest influences, and what it was like to DJ a festival while eight months pregnant.
Yes, eight months pregnant.
Alison also answers a question for anyone watching on shrooms, which sends the conversation into exactly the kind of shroomy spiral you would hope for from an episode involving Alison Wonderland and a neon-purple dessert.
The two also revisit Hunter’s deeply questionable DJ past with HA! Entertainment, a chapter of his life that should probably be studied, sealed, or both. IYKYK.
Later, Alison plays Spin the Track or Skip the Track, talks about her new album Ghost World, and reveals that her baby even makes a vocal appearance. It is part music interview, part comedy chaos, part festival fever dream, and part dessert-based spiritual experience.
And then, because this is The Perfect Parfait, things get even stranger with Off the Domes, a possible perfect parfait ruling, and the small matter of Alison actually having her baby.
If you are into Alison Wonderland, EDM, festival culture, magical purple desserts, or watching Hunter Cope lose control of his own show in real time, this episode is for you.
